Carcass of ten year old tigress was found in Kisli range of Kanha National Park in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh, reports PTI from Bhopal.
The carcass was spotted by a mahout, who was patrolling the area on the elephant on Tuesday, officials said. A porcupine`s carcass was also spotted lying beside that of the tigress, they said.
The officials suspect that there was a fight between the two animals, as suggested by the injury marks found on the carcass of the tigress. These injury marks were caused due to the porcupines pointed quills, they said.
After conducting the postmortem, the body of the tiger was cremated in the presence of representatives of the National Tiger Conservation Authority.
