ORANG NATIONAL PARK IN ASSAM

Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state:-

(a) whether the Government has taken safety and security measures to improve the Orang National Park in Assam; and
(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds provided for the purpose?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (DR. MAHESH SHARMA)

(a)and (b)As per the recommendation of Government of India, State of Assam has notified the Orang National Park as a Tiger Reserve on 24.02.2016. The Orang Tiger Reserve is covered under the ongoing Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Project Tiger and is financially and technically assisted by the National Tiger Conservation Authority and from the Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitats scheme of Government of India.

The assistance to Orang Tiger Reserve is provided for inter alia, antipoaching, habitat intervention, Phase IV monitoring protocol, All India Tiger Estimation besides staff welfare, desilting water bodies and intelligence gathering.

Details of funds released under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes of ‘Project Tiger’ and IDWH during the three years and the current financial year are as under:
